Mild climate of the island of Lošinj is seen in the richness and diversity of vegetation. According to research 1100 plant species, of which 939 indigenous, were discovered on the island of Lošinj. Of that richness 230 are included in medicinal plants.
About 80 species are exotic plants from other parts of the world, which Lošinj captains and sailors brought from their voyages and planted in gardens of their houses. Thanks to typical climate, plants from southern Dalmatia and Sicily are grown here. So here grow agaves, Mexican cactus (opuntia), palm trees, magnolias, mirths, pistachios, mimosas, fig trees from India (karmus-nassarah), and lemons, oranges and mandarin trees brought from Vietnam to Palermo, and then to Mali Lošinj.
Lošinj's Garden of Fine Scents is the island of medicinal plants in Mali Lošinj. Accompanied by a professional guide visitors can learn about rich flora of the island, therapeutic properties of plants, as well as buy authentic souvenirs.
